Veoh Video Network Acckkk!

despite what you may have heard VeohTV works great. The only problems are that they seem to want to phase out the website as the place to view videos. But they don't offer much of the functions on the site. So you can't videos. None of the icons have any mouse over info pop ups.

But if you use the VeohTV player you can watch videos longer than 45 minutes. On the site you will be limited to 5 minutes and have to download the video.

Funny thing is I was still using 3.2.x.x. I didn't get one of those upgrade notices. And for you to find the download link. Look up at where your name is at the top of the page. Click on the support link. Then look back at the same spot. Left of the support link will be the download link.

Veoh is one clunky junky jumble.

U.S. Aims To Lure Insurgents With 'Bait'

"Baiting is putting an object out there that we know they will use, with the intention of destroying the enemy," Capt. Matthew P. Didier, the leader of an elite sniper scout platoon attached to the 1st Battalion of the 501st Infantry Regiment, said in a sworn statement. "Basically, we would put an item out there and watch it. If someone found the item, picked it up and attempted to leave with the item, we would engage the individual as I saw this as a sign they would use the item against U.S. Forces."

Why One Sex Survey Didn’t Make The Big Time

By DEBBIE NATHAN

A study you've probably not heard of just came out: "Online Requests for Sexual Pictures from Youth: Risk Factors and Incident Characteristics." It's in the August issue of the Journal of Adolescent Health, authored by prominent researchers at the University of New Hampshire, including David Finkelhor.
Their data come from a phone survey of 1500 kids aged 10 to 17. Of these, 65 – about four percent – said they'd been asked while online to send out nude pictures of themselves. Only one kid complied.

Presumably, the rest said "bug off." Still, many of the 65 who got asked for pictures were upset about it. Even if they didn't send anything, they felt harassed, even stalked, and that's surely a problem. Kids deserve to feel safe wherever they are, including on the Net. If they don't, adults need to help make things better. The press goes for civic duty news, and generally salivates over internet-and-kids sex stories even if they lack redeeming social value. So you'd think this study would have appeared on Page Ones everywhere.

Instead, it's generally been ignored or misrepresented.

Why?
Probably because a look at the data reveals that kids who were asked to send pix tended to be black. Or to be precise, teenaged girl black. Associated risk factors included: hanging around a lot in chat rooms, intentionally downloading porn, acting mean and agressive online, and being depressed. This sort of victim doesn't play well in Peoria. In the unspoken but ever present public mind, the study might as well be titled "Online Requests for Sexual Pictures from Loser Hos." To skirt that problem, most news outlets ignored the report entirely. A few used an Associated Press item that omitted race, gender, and most other risk factors.

So much for the mainstream media's interest in science and protecting our children.

Company presents a boyish robot

At 17 inches tall and 6 pounds, the artificial Zeno is the culmination of five years of work by Hanson and a small group of engineers, designers and programmers at his company, Hanson Robotics. They believe there's an emerging business in the design and sale of lifelike robotic companions, or social robots. And they'll be showing off the robot boy to students in grades 3-12 at the Wired NextFest technology conference Thursday in Los Angeles.

OMG, they will sell them for $200 to $300. I hear idiots paid $600 for a damn phone. These creepy things will be everywhere.

It seems like a lot of Arabs are hitting up the adult websites in Israel. They have even started translating the pages for them. So now how about translating them to english. Like this one called wet.

"No, it's purely business," one website operator said. "Porn will not bring about peace but at least we get some money out of our enemies' pockets."

Shame that. Could show some make love not war porn and calm everybody down.

Implants Linked To Tumors

Originally uploaded by BilboBiggity
When the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved implanting microchips in humans, the manufacturer said it would save lives, letting doctors scan the tiny transponders to access patients' medical records almost instantly. The FDA found "reasonable assurance" the device was safe, and a sub-agency even called it one of 2005's top "innovative technologies."

I myself wanted one in me. What think of the GPS fun you could have.

"The transponders were the cause of the tumors," said Keith Johnson, a retired toxicologic pathologist, explaining in a phone interview the findings of a 1996 study he led at the Dow Chemical Co. in Midland, Mich.

Leading cancer specialists reviewed the research for The Associated Press and, while cautioning that animal test results do not necessarily apply to humans, said the findings troubled them. Some said they would not allow family members to receive implants, and all urged further research before the glass-encased transponders are widely implanted in people.

To date, about 2,000 of the so-called radio frequency identification, or RFID, devices have been implanted in humans worldwide, according to VeriChip Corp. The company, which sees a target market of 45 million Americans for its medical monitoring chips, insists the devices are safe, as does its parent company, Applied Digital Solutions, of Delray Beach, Fla.

"We stand by our implantable products which have been approved by the FDA and/or other U.S. regulatory authorities," Scott Silverman, VeriChip Corp. chairman and chief executive officer, said in a written response to AP questions.

With Bush and company in charge. The FDA saying something is okay don't mean nothing.

The FDA also stands by its approval of the technology.

Did the agency know of the tumor findings before approving the chip implants? The FDA declined repeated AP requests to specify what studies it reviewed.

The FDA is overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services, which, at the time of VeriChip's approval, was headed by Tommy Thompson. Two weeks after the device's approval took effect on Jan. 10, 2005, Thompson left his Cabinet post, and within five months was a board member of VeriChip Corp. and Applied Digital Solutions. He was compensated in cash and stock options.

Thompson, until recently a candidate for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, says he had no personal relationship with the company as the VeriChip was being evaluated, nor did he play any role in FDA's approval process of the RFID tag.

"I didn't even know VeriChip before I stepped down from the Department of Health and Human Services," he said in a telephone interview.

Disney Doesn't Screw Vanessa Hudgens

Disney backs star after her apology for nude photo

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Vanessa Hudgens, the star of the wholesome, made-for-kids TV movie hit "High School Musical," apologized on Friday for a nude photo of her on the Web and Walt Disney Co. said it was sticking by the performer.

Some parents of her young fans voiced dismay over the photo, which shows Hudgens, 18, smiling and standing naked directly in front of the camera.

"I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me," Hudgens said in a statement issued about a day after the photo surfaced. "I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends."

In a statement, Disney said it hoped Hudgens had learned a valuable lesson. "Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment."

A Disney representative said the photo would not affect its decision to cast Hudgens in the third film of the "High School Musical" franchise and that negotiations for the cast and creative team were continuing.

Earlier on Friday, a representative for Hudgens confirmed the image was of Hudgens but said it "was taken privately."

"It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public," the representative said in a statement.

Hello my one reader. I am about to give you a great money making idea. Go and print up 5000 t-shirts with the words "I am Not A Porn Star But I have Poised Nude On The Internets" written on them. You'll make a bundle I tell ya. And don't forget to come back here and drop a little something in my paypal, note donate button to your right.

I am glad to see disney do something right for a change. Vanessa Hudgens ain't no paris hilton for craps sake. And while no hilton she is now in a club that ain't that exclusive. As its members are very large in number.

No Tell Hotel, OK These Is Nothing To Tell

Love Hotel Love
Originally uploaded by hekkeller
TOKYO (Reuters) - Long associated with seedy red light districts, sleaze and sex, Japan's love hotels are growing up to be socially acceptable and even classy, says the author of a new book on the subject.

In fact, many aren't even being used for "love" anymore.

"Increasingly, people are frequenting love hotels who have no intention of having sex with each other," said Sarah Chaplin, author and professor of architecture at the U.K.'s Kingston University.
[...]
"If you look at Japanese demographics on marriage and relationships and sales of condoms and all sorts of things, there is a kind of voluntary abstinence going on," Chaplin said.

Japan ranked last in a 26 nation survey of sexual activity released in July by condom maker Durex. The average Japanese had sex 48 times a year, well below the global average of 103 times.

That is so wrong. I wonder how they do on the self love front.

Bikini Waxing Is Evil?

Apparently, feminism and Brazilians don't mix. Brazilian bikini waxes, I mean. With increasing frequency, self-professed feminists seem to be talking about bikini waxes as if they were the spawn of the devil. Many even go as far as calling it anti-feminist.
[...]
Yes, it's painful, so what. If we want to suffer to prevent unsightly sprouting from our bikini, that's our business. It's hardly a crime against humanity.

The oft-cited argument against bikini waxing, and hair removal in general, is that we're doing it for men, and that if we're doing it for men, that is very, very wrong. I, however, beg to differ. Men, using a rash generalisation here, are very unlikely to notice if you missed a hair when shaving your legs or have a centimetre more bikini line than is fashionable. Women, on the other hand, probably will.

Yep. If it was wearing hair on yer head. It would seen as just making yourself look a certain way because that was the style. Maybe They don't get it that the idea is to expose more skin.

The Digital Camera

History of the Digital Camera

By Mary Bells

Digital camera technology is directly related to and evolved from the same technology that recorded television images. In 1951, the first video tape recorder (VTR) captured live images from television cameras by converting the information into electrical impulses (digital) and saving the information onto magnetic tape. Bing Crosby laboratories (the research team funded by Crosby and headed by engineer John Mullin) created the first early VTR and by 1956, VTR technology was perfected (the VR1000 invented by Charles P. Ginsburg and the Ampex Corporation) and in common use by the television industry. Both television/video cameras and digital cameras use a CCD (Charged Coupled Device) to sense light color and intensity.

During the 1960s, NASA converted from using analog to digital signals with their space probes to map the surface of the moon (sending digital images back to earth). Computer technology was also advancing at this time and NASA used computers to enhance the images that the space probes were sending.

Digital imaging also had another government use at the time that being spy satellites. Government use of digital technology helped advance the science of digital imaging, however, the private sector also made significant contributions. Texas Instruments patented a film-less electronic camera in 1972, the first to do so. In August, 1981, Sony released the Sony Mavica electronic still camera, the camera which was the first commercial electronic camera. Images were recorded onto a mini disc and then put into a video reader that was connected to a television monitor or color printer. However, the early Mavica cannot be considered a true digital camera even though it started the digital camera revolution. It was a video camera that took video freeze-frames.

Since the mid-1970s, Kodak has invented several solid-state image sensors that "converted light to digital pictures" for professional and home consumer use. In 1986, Kodak scientists invented the world's first megapixel sensor, capable of recording 1.4 million pixels that could produce a 5x7-inch digital photo-quality print. In 1987, Kodak released seven products for recording, storing, manipulating, transmitting and printing electronic still video images. In 1990, Kodak developed the Photo CD system and proposed "the first worldwide standard for defining color in the digital environment of computers and computer peripherals." In 1991, Kodak released the first professional digital camera system (DCS), aimed at photojournalists. It was a Nikon F-3 camera equipped by Kodak with a 1.3 megapixel sensor.

The first digital cameras for the consumer-level market that worked with a home computer via a serial cable were the Apple QuickTake 100 camera (February 17 , 1994), the Kodak DC40 camera (March 28, 1995), the Casio QV-11 (with LCD monitor, late 1995), and Sony's Cyber-Shot Digital Still Camera (1996).

However, Kodak entered into an aggressive co-marketing campaign to promote the DC40 and to help introduce the idea of digital photography to the public. Kinko's and Microsoft both collaborated with Kodak to create digital image-making software workstations and kiosks which allowed customers to produce Photo CD Discs and photographs, and add digital images to documents. IBM collaborated with Kodak in making an internet-based network image exchange. Hewlett-Packard was the first company to make color inkjet printers that complemented the new digital camera images.

The marketing worked and today digital cameras are everywhere.

Disney star appears nude in Web photo

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The wholesome image of Vanessa Hudgens, star of the made-for-kids TV movie hit "High School Musical," was under fire on Friday because of a nude photo circulating on the Internet, creating a new publicity challenge for the Walt Disney Co.

A representative for actress Vanessa Hudgens confirmed on Friday that the image is of the 18-year-old performer. The picture shows her smiling and standing naked directly in front of the camera in what appears to be a bathroom.

"This was a photo which was taken privately," Hudgens' representative said in a statement. "It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public."

A Disney representative had no comment about whether the appearance of the photo would affect the company's decision to cast Hudgens in the third film of the "High School Musical" franchise.

Apple's face is red today. In an open letter on its Web site Thursday following customer outrage because the 8-GB iPhone's price dropped by $200 earlier this week, CEO Steve Jobs apologized and offered a $100 store credit to those who had purchased the iPhone at the higher price.

And the sheep says:

Early reaction on the Web to the $100 store credit is mixed, but appears generally favorable. For example, ZDNet's Adrian Kingsley-Hughes wrote that he was "not all that convinced that the people who are angry" at having paid top price for the iPhone "are the kind of people who spend money regularly with Apple."

This is not 200 bucks heck it ain't even 100 bucks. It's a lame store credit. This is like a buy a iPhone and a $100 gift card. How they work on making it do what other phones can do and call me when its $200. Then I will wait until it is available for 2 for one.
